What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
Coaching and counseling are two services on a continuum of professional support, each uniquely designed to foster clients’ growth and well-being. Coaching focuses on personal and professional development, helping clients set and achieve specific goals. It is forward-looking and action-oriented. Counseling, on the other hand, addresses emotional and psychological issues, often exploring past experiences to facilitate understanding and healing. Both utilize different skills and approaches to achieve these objectives.
What are your qualifications?
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling, both from George Washington University in Washington, DC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both the Commonwealth of Virginia and Washington, DC, and I hold School Counselor (K12) Certification in Washington, DC. Finally, I am a certified coach, having completed a specialized coaching program in School Leadership and Executive Coaching through the Academy of Creative Coaching in Atlanta, Georgia.

What is your approach or methodology?
My approach is integrative and holistic, and tailored to your specific needs. In coaching, I use a combination of goal-setting techniques, motivational interviewing, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help you achieve your objectives. In counseling, I employ evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and person-centered therapy to support your healing and growth.
Are your services online or in-person?
My coaching and counseling services are primarily conducted online via secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. This allows you to receive support from the comfort of your home or workplace, and to schedule sessions conveniently, even when traveling or relocating.
At times, services may be provided in-person or on-site. These arrangements would be outlined in the contract between Letiecq and the client(s).
Is the conversation and the information I share kept confidential?
Absolutely! Confidentiality is a cornerstone of my practice. All of our conversations are private and protected by professional ethical standards and legal regulations. Your personal information is securely stored on HIPAA-compliant platforms to ensure its protection.
The only exceptions to confidentiality are if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. We will discuss confidentiality during our discovery and intake sessions and throughout the coaching / counseling process.
How do I get started?
To get started, you can book a discovery session (initial consultation) in a variety of ways — by email, telephone, or by clicking on the “Schedule A Session” button above.
During our discovery session, we will discuss your needs, goals, and how we can work together. If we are a good match, we will proceed to schedule a first session. I will also send you an intake form to complete and a contract to sign before our work together begins. [Please note that if the new client is an adolescent, a parent or guardian will also be involved in some of these initial steps.]
What is the typical frequency of sessions and duration of services?
Coaching: We usually meet weekly or biweekly for 60-minute sessions to focus on your goals. The coaching process typically lasts between 3 months to a year. However, it can continue longer if you find the process particularly beneficial, like many clients do. The frequency of sessions and the duration of coaching services may change based on your progress, evolving goals, and new objectives for coaching.
Counseling: We usually meet weekly for 50-minute sessions to explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, facilitating healing and personal growth. The frequency of sessions and the length of counseling services may change based on your treatment goals, issue severity, and progress in counseling.
Regardless of the service, we will regularly review your progress to ensure we are meeting your goals.
